Richenel was a Dutch singer and musician active in various disco outfits and known for a strong cross-gender stage persona. A few years ago Music From Memory reissued Richenel’s debut La Diferencia, as the first Dutch artist on the label. In the early 80s, students at the Rietveld Academy had started the Fetisj label, whose second-to-last release became the Richenel tape. In tribute to the artist, who passed away earlier this year, Music From Memory released From the Archives last month. It’s an EP of three tracks, including the stunning “Cry For a Beauty” which hasn’t made it onto any of the previous reissues.
