San Francisco powerpop group Latitude released their first album three years ago. A guitar-centric record in the same vein as Peach Kelli Pop, that included the amazing ballad “Empty Pockets”. Now they’re back with a new LP on Emotional Response, which sees them sounding more like Blondie than ever – especially on the single track “Thursday Is the New Sunday”. It also brings to mind another group who were into Blondie, namely Jesse Garon & the Desperadoes. It has the same bittersweet melody as many of their finest songs. “Tick Tock” crosses over into new wave territory and does it well. Mystic Hotline is out in early October.
