Thessa Torsing is a Dutch artist who has been performing as Upsammy for some years – making shimmering electronic music that would earn the epithet IDM in most people’s books. Working with labels like Nous’klaer from Rotterdam she has released a string of EPs – most recently a split soundtrack together with Tammo Hesselink. “Zeekasteel” is released under her real name, but just a few months earlier she appeared on the celebrated Dekmantel with her second Upsammy album. Zoom is a beautiful album full of references to nature and its general theme of flow, evident in titles like “Subsoil”. To accompany the album, Torsing has created a visual track of slow-motion videos of plants and water.
