Enigmatic Californian group German Army have already released several more albums since we last wrote of them (bringing the count to about 70). One of them is a cassette on the Greek label OSM, called The Chronology of the Base Nation. With their usual political critique, the record brings up the subject of US bases in foreign countries such as Iraq (“Bagdad Providence”) and Georgia (also known as “Sakartvelo”) and the plight of peoples like the Lhotshampas and the Sahrawi. It’s a thought-provoking mix of ambient and industrial electronic – as is the new digital release on Opal Tapes, School of the Americas. This one takes its stance against the hated military school and is dedicated to Puerto Rican activist Lolita Lébrón.
