Public Eye have been around Portland, Oregon for while but they haven’t released anything since their debut album from 2017. Last month their sophomore effort came out on Pop Wig and on Drunken Sailor Records in the UK, moving their sound closer to the no-distorsion riffing of KBD punk, but with a surprising melodic affinity. They remind me of LA group Shark Toys here, especially that band’s last album on In the Red. Music For Leisure does works with longer song structures, but it is perhaps on the short and focused tracks like “Lost Dog” and “Awful Questions” that the group’s strengths are most obvious.
