Ribbon Stage have struck gold on their debut EP My Favourite Shrine, out in K Records’ International Pop Underground series earlier this month. The fact that no one really knows what to think of the Olympia label these days probably don’t bother the NYC trio. Their whole sound says they don’t give a shit and the songs focus on their own personal hell, like “Personal Hell” or “Cry In the Driveway”. The sound is, furthermore, the most exact approximation of the Subway Organisation roster ca 1987 that I’ve ever heard. Clattering drums and strummed open chords with cheap distorsion.
