Dame is a Boston group who released one amazing 7″ back in 2017. These days they live in different cities but still managed to record the material for debut album Dame. It came out a month ago on Beach Impediment (don’t we all love that Richmond label) and it’s almost sold out now. The music is up there with the best punk of recent years, like Constant Mongrel and Sweeping Promises. The guitars have that 80s chorus sound and Diana’s captivating vocals brings Siouxsie Sioux and Poly Styrene to mind. All of the 7 tracks are brilliant, but I particularly love “Cicadas” and the woozy synthesisers of “Skeleton”.
