Astaron was the Austrian duo of Angie Mörth and Martina Aichhorn – performance artists and musicians. They released a great album in 1987 on Ton Um Ton Records, now a darkwave classic. The album is a bit all over the place, including everything from recorder and accordion to drum machines and cheap synths. Their aesthetic reminds me a lot of Strawberry Switchblade, while the sounds is more experimental with nods to the 4AD scene around This Mortal Coil. In September UK label Sealed Records (who recently did the Rudimentary Peni 45) are putting out a lavish reissue.
