I’m really pleased I got to see Music Yared play with a full band in Melbourne at the beginning of the year. They were supporting their Music In Exile labelmates Gordon Koang, but now they have their own record out very soon. A five-track selftitled EP is dropping next month and you can already listen to “Kabsamai”. The core of the group are Anbessa Gebrehiwot and Haftu Reda (originally from Eritrea and Ethiopia), who both play traditional instruments. Here, they’re singing in Tigrinya about challenges faced in relationships and love.
