Mannequin is arguably one of the admirable labels for cold electronic music today. After 100 releases during their first decade, Alessandro Adriani’s label continue to deliver on their most recent LP from Prequel Tapes. It’s the third album from Marco Freivogel’s experimental project and Ruin is a dark and beguiling record. Full of lush carpets of analog synthesizers – sometimes accessible and harmonic (like on the “Scythe” and “Antagonist), sometimes pushing the envelope into IDM territory (as on “Hot Cell”). The LP came out one month ago today, but make sure you also check out the self-released Machine Isolation EP from May, which is more EBM-oriented.
