Hubert Kostkiewicz (of Kurws) and Łukasz Rychlicki come together on Zapis to create an abstract work of guitar music. The Polish musicians start from a foundation in the drone of folk music and adds elements of noise and contemporary sound art. The sound bears a slight resemblance to Sonic Youth’s weirder moments, and “Seventh Pressings” even sounds a bit like Sister. The twin guitars are used to a hypnotic effect on these long, instrumental composition. The album was released by Absolute Fiction and Maternal Voice in April of this year. Kostkiewicz has since released an EP together with Piotr Łyszkiewicz in another duo constellation called Spoons & Bones, which instead combined guitar with saxophone.
