Wow it’s already been three years since the last album from NYC duo Widowspeak. This, their fifth album, will be released by Captured Tracks at the end of August. Simply called Plum, it feels like a unpretentious collection of songs stuck in the same Hope Sandoval past as their previous efforts. I’ve always enjoyed seeing the group live, where the songs are often taken to a new level, and judging by the three singles so far this albums seems to be pretty subdued. I really love the album cover, does anyone know who painted the original? Check out the vide for “Money” while you wait for the release date.
