Don’t is a band from Michigan that I’ve been meaning to write about ever since their debut album came out on Dreamy Life. Lightning Slow is their first new music since their very first EP from 2016. Operating in the same tradition as 90s labels like Grimsey (also from Michigan), they received some help from Fred Thomas (Saturday Looks Goods Good to Me) in recording, mixing and mastering the record. And it does sound great, from Frances’ vocals to the lo-fi synth sounds. To me, there also seems to be something of Damon & Naomi melancholy to some of these songs. There aren’t many bands out there making music this simple anymore.
