Thibault is the musical vehicle of Nicole Thibault (previously in the great Minimum Chips). Joined live by members of Parsnip and Zak of Traffik Island, it’s a group I’ve enjoyed seeing every time. The songs on their debut LP Or Not Thibault have been a long time in the making, but are finally out at the start of September. So far, two amazing singles have appeared: the yé-yé styled “Drama” which comes with this simple yet effective lockdown video, and prior to that “Centrelink”. The timely release of “Centrelink” during record amounts of people in Australia signing up for the dole earned them some press, not the least in NME. But the song stands on its on legs and is surprisingly upbeat. Look out for the release on Chapter Music.
