The Pencils from England released one of my all-time favourite powerpop singles back in 1982. “Watching the Tears” later appeared on their only album on X Records two years later. Apparently the band members didn’t know it was released, since the label was based in Germany. Much later, in 2012, Kool Kat put out a CDr called Anthology, which includes the album and all of the remaining unreleased recordings. Two of these have now been picked for a 45 release on You Are the Cosmos, set for release in mid July.
