I still mourn missing Ups and Downs’ gig in Melbourne a few months ago, seeing as they’re one of my favourite 80s bands from Australia. Last Friday they released a single called “Cabin Fever” that was the last one recorded by the original line-up formed in Brisbane. It was meant to come out in 1989, but the guitarist left the group before the proper studio version was put to tape. The band, now in Sydney, had recently been dropped from Mushroom and all four tracks from the planned EP were scrapped, until now. “Cabin Fever” is a song about their experience of Brisbane in the late 80s.
