You might recognise the name Yuta Matsumura from the now sadly defunct Sydney group Orion. Both Yuta and Dizzy from that band used to play in the hardcore band Oily Boys and both have or are playing in Low Life. While Dizzy’s had his electronic project WRX, Yuta also released a solo tape on Altered States about six months ago. His Untitled tape is a collection of four songs that blend post-punk and early synth wave. “HZO” even sounds a bit like an early Warp release. You can tell that his influences are wide – from Thomas Leer to Mariah.
