Supplicate is New Orleans-based musician Andy Gibbs’ alias. He released a quietly haunting album by himself a couple of years ago, called Local Experience, which could have been a great alternative soundtrack to Color Out of Space. Now he’s back with a tape on Austin label Somatic (who also released the Lunacy EP on cassette recently). The new album Whip Becomes a Spiral sounds like a darker and more beat-heavy affair based on first track “Skin of Heaven”. The other five tracks drop in early July. The Somatic label also have a tape from Michael C Sharp out in a couple of weeks, all great stuff.
