I played Special Interest’s latest single “Don’t Kiss Me In Public” on 3RRR back in February, but really wanted to shine the spotlight on them here as well. This bunch from New Orleans are a queer punk band without a drummer – or anarcho glam as they call it themselves. But the real gold is to be found on their album for Raw Sugar from two years ago – the brief but essential Spiraling. I just revisited it and it still sounds hot as. Scottish label Anxious Music reissued it last year and strangely enough it’s still in print? Every single song is a modern classic here – “Art Walk” just blows my mind every time.
