Defect Play are releasing their debut record on Seattle’s Iron Lung next week. It’s a minialbum with tracks and without knowing much about the musicians behind the name, one look at the video for opening track “Dulled” gives us a good idea about what to expect. This is punk with an industrial element that is simply uncompromising. Howling feedback and chilling drum machine beats bury the vocals in a mix that feels like an underground cell. Alec Empire would probably approve. The label say it’s a constant nightmare, luckily it’s over after three more songs.
