False Brother is a US band from Kansas City that released their first tape back in 2016. Since then they’ve been silent but have developed from a solo project to a full band. Esteban, Denny, Deets and Ian just had their first proper album put out by the great Seattle label Iron Lung. Uncanny Valley is one of the best albums of the year so far, with its expert approximation of Joy Division and early Factory era sounds. This is post-punk with well-written songs, much like Bitumen’s new material. They’ve managed to create a group of nine songs that feel like a unity and don’t shy away from the four-minute mark. Everything about this record sounds right.
