We wrote about Ed Ball’s outfit The Times back in November and I just heard that Static Shock are reissuing their first single “Red With Purple Flashes” this month. It was originally released on Dan Treacy’s Whaam! label in 1981. The title comes from a famous quote from The Creation, who described their music thusly. Another reissue exists, on 1977 Records, but this one is hard to find. Pre-order here. Now I wish someone would reissue the Direct Hits (from Manchester, not London) recordings from 1979 too.
