Phase Fatale is Hayden Payne, a Berlin-based DJ who just released his second album at the beginning of the year. His first longplayer came out on Hospital Productions several years ago, but for Scanning Backwards, he has teamed up with longtime collaborator Ostgut Ton (the Berghain label). The album is full of “frequencies found in both sonic warfare and functional dance music”, the label states. As the cover reveals, this is a very dark vision with elements of post-punk mixed in. The album is made especially for the dance floor, but tracks like “During the Freezing Process” work just as well in your headphones.
