Osàre! Editions is a new Amsterdam label started by Elena Colombi. At the beginning of the year they put out this retrospective of Greek pioneer Thanasis Zlatanos’ music from the 80s. The mix of simple electronic music and Macedonian traditions A Retrospective is almost transcendental at times. There are also moments of darkness, apparently some of these tracks were recorded by the Norwegian post-punk outfit Nekropolis, that Zlatanos was a member of. There are four bonus tracks on the digital release, one of them (“Body Is Utterly Ruined, Becomes All Soul”) almost sounds like Durutti Column. This is the tip of the iceberg of a wealth of music created by Zlatanos, some of it heard for the first time.
