This Friday bandcamp are waiving their artist fees again (it’s going to happen the first Friday of the month for a while), and here’s one of many new releases to check out. Louis Philippe is one of my all-time favourite songwriters, originally signed to the él label run by Mike Alway. He just released a compilation of one-offs, collaborations and previously unreleased songs from 1991-2009. The intro “A Kiss In the Funhouse” was actually the intro to his ‘best of’ from 1998, and as such, Unheard works as an interesting companion piece. There are a couple of tracks from the two amazing albums he recorded with Dean Brodrick, such as the beautiful 9-minute “Sleep”.
