LA darkwave group Aurat are back with a new EP, called Zeher, which means ‘poison’ in Urdu. Compared to their 2018 album, the sound is much more intense, leaning more towards punk than synthwave. Azeka’s powerful vocals are still a highlight, especially on the brilliant “Waiting For You”. The other four tracks on the self-released record are also great, taking the group to the next level. I love that the opening track “Aaghaz” is just a load of guitar drone, I’d love to hear more in that vein.
