The Twistees might be the only proper psychedelic group in Melbourne these days. Last year they burst onto the scene with a single followed closely by their debut LP Pure Intention, launched at the Retreat together with our new favourites Romero. Despite not receiving a lot of attention, this album commands it upon hearing it. Like their friends in Super-X, they’re a bit obsessed with Spacemen 3 (check out “Drone Alone”), but they’re also not afraid to go full ’67 (like the Golden Dawn-flavoured “Can’t Get Out of Here”).
