Optic Nerve is not only a great US group from the 80s, it’s also a band that have been making a name for themselves in Sydney. Without any studio recordings to prove it yet, the band have released a live recording on bandcamp, showcasing four tracks reminiscent of everything from The Fall to Desperate Bicycles. A good point of reference might be US punks Booji Boys. Optic Nerve are sounding tight, fierce and like they’ve got something to prove. Opening track “Sniper” might be one of my favourite songs from last year.
