May we guess that Romero are named after the director George Romero? Either way, this new Melbourne group have just released what is the best powerpop single since that first Sheer Mag EP. “Honey” is my favourite single of the year so far, released on Cool Death today for Valentine’s Day. Singer Alanna Oliver is just amazing and the guitars are just cheesy enough. If you remember that Chain Letters 45 from a few years back, this single has that same instant appeal. And the b-side “Neapolitan” is just as good. Don’t miss them at their next gig, together with The Twistees, Super-X and other great groups at The Old Bar soon.
