It truly is a crime that someone has yet to write about Crimes of Passion, the new album from Los Angeles’ star duo L.A. Law. Possibly named after the 80s tv series of the same name, this is the musical project of Gabe (Gap Dream) and Jessie Jones. After their brilliant 2017 debut, the new tape available from Burger Records takes things in a more experimental and stripped-down direction. Many of the tracks feel like sketches of songs, but still abound with ideas. The singing is mostly broken up into vocal samples, but Jessie’s unmistakable voice is as easy on the ears as ever. At under 20 minutes, this is a short release but we’re seeing more and more digital releases that are neither albums or EPs these days I guess.
