Cold Beat is the post-Grass Widow project of Hannah Lew. Based in SF, she’s cut a few records together with her three band members. Recently they signed to DFA and announced their new album Mother, which will be out next month. Coloured by what seems to be a bleak future for the earth, for herself and her (at that time) unborn child, it might be her best work yet. Time has caught up with Lew’s aesthetic and this kind of post-punk sound is highly prevalent today – perhaps due to the dystopian aspects of life in many countries.
