When I was growing up there was a great fanzine in my hometown called Revolution #9. I can’t remember if every issue was #9 or not. Today sees the debut EP of a new Australian duo called RV228, or Revolutions Two Through Eight. Their tape Commodore Gilgamesh is a mouthful. The seven tracks (that should be numbered 2-8) feature spoken word lyrics by a guy called Ethan over a skittery drum machine and guitar played by Billy from Disco Junk. Not quite punk and not quite anything else either. Are songs like “Will I?” a reference to Beatles lyrics played backwards? I will. Never know. Under Heat Records might do, give them a buzz.
