The Haskels was a punk band from Milwaukee formed in 1977. They recorded a bunch of tracks back in 1979 that were lost in the folds of time. These were never intended to be an album originally, but two of the tracks were slated for a 45 release. The group later became a three-piece and released a self-titled EP in 1980 that included the classic “Taking the City By Storm”. Their drummer later joined The Violent Femmes. Recently the master tapes were found and the music was finally mixed. The album The Haskels was finally released this year on Splunge – “the only label with a brain”. The other three tracks from their EP appear here in their original versions. This is a classic album, or would have been if it had been finished in 1980.
