Speaking of Ducks, have you heard Toronto group Ducks Unlimited? They’ve taken their name from an American NGO, and Pitchfork couldn’t have been more off in their description of their music as derivative of Field Mice and Blueboy. This band sounds a lot more like Australian groups like Major Leagues, Porpoise Spit and The Twerps – while also owing something to the guitar sound of Spanish indie from the 90s, perhaps most notably the instrumental group Hacia Dos Veranos. On their EP Get Bleak, they impress with their songwriting but the vocals definitely sound best with a bit of attitude as on closing track “Anhedonia”.
