There are still promising bands turning up in Geelong outside of Melbourne. One of them is Alaia, which is headed by singer Lewis Overman and four other longhaired boys. Their first song “Coming Back” is online now, in what seems to be an unmastered version. But if you crank it up you’ll get the idea. Guitars that sound like Harlem and a melody that has a distinct Britpop sound about it – I’m thinking late era Ride? They’ve really nailed that chorus. Photo by @oldkingjardine.
