The Spyrals haven’t given up. Five years since their last album – the great Out of Sight – they’ve returned with The Curse on their own label Inside the Moon. Still sounding like a lofi Night Beats, the California trio have turned in their most inspired set of tunes yet. From the Farfisa-driven opener “Eyes Filled With Gold” to the slow Warlocks-burn of closing track “Feels Like”, this won’t let any fuzz-lover down. “Leave It Behind” is my favourite and totally sounds like a lost Open Mind demo. Next year they’re planning to play Europe.
