Mope Grooves is a Portland group who have released four albums by now. Their latest is called Desire and came out See My Friends Records a few months ago. They’re playing an experimental blend of post punk and pop over minimal rhythms – sometimes sounding a bit like Suburban Lawns but mostly just sounding like themselves. They toured Europe with L.O.X. this year but I sadly didn’t get a chance to see them around these parts. Listen to the hypnotic “Bicycle Dancers” and try to ride your bike in a straight line after that.
