Omni have signed to Sup Pop and released a new EP for the label Courtesy Call, followed by the album Networker yesterday. It comes with a vhs style video for “Courtesy Call” that you can check out here, and the other tracks are much in the same vein. While I’m not a fan of the vocal treatment on this production, which sounds very dull, the guitar work is front and centre here. More Verlaine-inspired than their previous work, this release also sees the Atlanta group trying to grapple with some longer compositions. On “Underage” they bring down the tempo and add some synth to the mix. Still it doesn’t have the same punch as the simpler tunes like “Present Tense”. I’m sure this track would’ve sounded even better played at twice the speed.
