New York group Bodega is one of the most interesting bands What’s Your Rupture? have uncovered in recent years. Last year, their first album Endless Scroll came out, followed by a live album earlier this year. A couple of weeks ago their brand new EP Shiny New Model came out. Its production is more polished, harking back to the advanced studio work of 90s bands like Pavement. This really highlights the lyrics, which are astoundingly great. Title track “Shiny New Model” is one of the best songs I’ve heard this year. If you liked the Program record we just wrote about, you are sure to dig the new Bodega record. On “Domesticated Animals” Nikki Belfiglio takes lead vocals, reminding me of B-52’s.
