Sui Zhen is one of the most interesting pop artists from Australia in recent years, along with Julia McFarlane. She seemingly adopts a completely new persona for each record. Her previous album Secretly, Susan was quietly impressive. Next week her follow-up Losing, Linda comes out on Dot Dash. She started writing it while in a residency in Japan and the first demos were recorded by the band in Matsudo. One of the tracks on the album is called “Matsudo City Life” and is about a local love hotel. I’m hoping to catch her instore at Skydiver Records next week.
