Melbourne punks Civic are about to hit Europe and just in time, this little baby arrived on Total Punk in the US and their Australian label Anti Fade. “Selling, Sucking, Blackmail, Bribes” is a much more in-your-face record than the preceding EP called Those Who No. The a-side is so fast it’s hard to keep up and the vocal sound like it’s grating on the actual vinyl. “Velvet Casino” on the flip is more old school punk with some great riffing and classic licks. Unfortunately some people seem to be intent on marketing these guys as some kind of newborn pub rock. Those people have probably never heard Drug Sweat or Cuntz or all the other great bands these boys have been in before.
