RECORD TURNOVER 80s HITS #12
Released at the tail-end of the 80s, this lil’ cassette kind of epitomises 80s jangly pop for a lot of people. Including labels like Summmershine (Australia) and The Bus Stop label (America) who based their whole output on this sound. Based in Perth, where inbreeding between pop bands was fairly outspread, The Rainyard was formed out of Roger McGuinn wannabes – some of whom were also in The Palisades. They naturally went nowhere, but a decade later labels were competing about reissuing this classic, which has the same legend status as that Someloves LP that was pressed at the wrong speed. It was finally included on the A Thousand Days retrospective on Pretty Olivia Records in 2012.
