Sam Evian, the New York artist who released the beautiful You, Forever last year, is back with a new single on Saddle Creek. “Cherry Tree” is a great soft-rock tune for everyone who are into Drugdealer or Chris Cohen. The understated nature of Evian’s music as a sight (or perhaps sound) for sore ears these days, when you have to scream to be heard. Both the a-side and “Roses” on the flip sound like timeless classics played in an effortless and breezy style. Let’s hope he returns with a full album sometime later this year.
