I was recently reminded of how much I love New Zealand group The Bats, who have essentially been going since the early 80s. Today I was listening back to their early releases and stumbled upon my old fave tune by them, from the obscure 4 Songs EP. When people used to ask what my favourite song by The Bats was (yes, that was a thing) I would always say “Straight Through My Heart” from 1988. I wonder why it hasn’t been reissued by Flying Nun yet. I still have my Bats t-shirt that won in a competition on Myspace once upon a time.
