The debut album by San Francisco powerpop group The Love-Birds is finally here, via Trouble In Mind. It’s got all the hallmarkds of a classic pop record, and they have all the credentials too if you read the credits for production and mastering. The fact that they haven’t included any of the songs for last year’s brilliant EP only speaks to the strength of the record.
“Hit My Head” hit us head-on early on and the barrage continues with “Angela”. The big 12-string classics pile up with “Kiss and Tell”, “Weak Riff” and “Tommy’s Theme”. Are these guys the next big thing since The Cool Ghouls?
