Rejoice, Habibi are back after way too many years. In the meantime they’ve picked up new member Leah Beth Fishman, who was actually featured in The New Yorker a few years ago.
The new record is a double 7″ EP with four tunes, including a cover of The Cramps sung in Farsi. Actually, all the songs are amazing and a big step forward for the group, who have appeared in some big publications lately, like i-D magazine.
It’s out on the American off-shoot of Modern Sky, one of China’s largest indie labels, and you can get it directly from Habibi’s bandcamp.
The band is also heading out on a small and much longed-for European tour, stopping off in Copenhagen to my surprise and great joy. See you there!
