The Young Sisters is one the endless footnotes in pop-cultural history, but definitely worthy of praise. Perhaps most wellknown as Del Shannon’s backing singers on hits like “Little Town Flirt”, they released three singles on the Twirl and Mala lables between ’62 and ’64. Surprisingly, these can be found on Spotify (click the thumbnail below). Interestingly, the trio included one Patti Masaglia who has gone down in northern soul history with “Head and Shoulders” released under the name Patti Young. This 1966 classic on Out of the Past is still one my favourite northern sides.
